It had been awhile since I'd glanced at my odometer... I was a bit surprised by what I saw!
40,000 miles...
... in 18 months. That's 74 miles per day.
... at roughly 21 cents/mile to cover car payments, insurance, and gas.
... means at least 800 hours on the road.
... gets you nearly 1/6th of the way to the moon.
... including 350+ trips to work and back.
... 15% of which occurred during road trips, particularly one to California.
... got me to 14 weddings and 15 holiday family dinners.
... consumed nearly 1200 gallons of gasoline.
... includes 2 red lights run, only 1 near accident, and 1 [unrelated] trip to the impound lot.
... walked instead of driven would burn more than 1000 pounds.
... have seen me home to 3 different addresses.
... means far too many early mornings scraping ice off the windows.
... 1/10th of which were driven after midnight, +1 night spent in a corn field.
... implies 700+ granola bars eaten for breakfasts & snacks.
... requiring 7 oil changes and only 2 car washes.
... passed with ~100 podcasts, 50+ charge cycles of the iPod battery, & 1700 radio station changes.
... 99.5% driven by the same person.
... is 5.2x as far as Lewis and Clark traveled in less than half the time. It's also the distance light travels in .2 seconds.
... have provided the inspiration for nearly every blog post I've written, as well as countless one-sided conversations, many random prayers, and even a few decent date ideas.
... is hopefully just the beginning, both of my car's lifetime and of my post-college adventures!
